ST. JOSEPH
PROTECTOR OF HOMES - While laboring as a carpenter,
St. Joseph was also protecting Child Jesus and the Blessed Mother. Here is his ancient prayer.
St. Joseph, protect our home. Pour forth heaven's blessings on our family. Remain in our midst. Help us to live in love and harmony, in peace and joy. may the wholesome fear of God strengthen us that virtue may adorn what we do and our way may lead to heaven.
To you this day I give the key to our dwelling place. Lock out all things that could do us harm. Lock my home and my loved ones with me in the hearts of Jesus and Mary. This I beg of you that our days may be like your days in the holy home at
Nazareth. Amen.

EVIL EYE OF PROTECTION
In
Turkey , wherever you look, you'll meet plenty of eyes looking at you. It is common in the Turkish culture to give a gift of a "Blue Glass Nazar Boncugu (bonjouk )" or "Evil Eye Bead" as it is more widely known.
The story told is that once upon a time, there was a rock by the sea that even the force of a hundred men and a lot of dynamite could not move or crack. There was also a man in this town by the sea, who was known to carry the evil eye. After much effort and endeavor, the town people brought the man to the rock and the man looked upon the the rock and said, “My! What a big rock this is.” The instant he said this, there was a rip and roar and crack and instantly the immense and impossible rock was cracked in two.
Evil Eye beads and charms are often given as gifts to visitors and hung near doors in the home or office, worn in the form of jewelry, or hung in the rear view mirror of cars. Once an evil eye is found cracked, it means it has done his job and a new one should replace it immediately.

SAGE WANDS
SMUDGING RITUALS - Sage is burned in “smudging” ceremonies to drive out bad spirits, feelings or influences, and also to keep bad spirits from entering the area where the ceremony takes place. The smudging ceremony has been a sacred ritual for Native Americans for thousands of years. It is a ritual of cleansing and purification for the physical and spiritual bodies.
Smudging is the act of wafting smoke over yourself and/or your possessions in order to purify them. The idea behind this is that people and things can collect energy that is not always good. When it is not good, it can affect us in ways that are not so positive, like weakening ourselves so that we get sick. Some things that may cause this to happen are arguments, coming into contact with someone who is angry or jealous of us. Sometimes we even alter our own energy signature when we feel depressed or sad.
Smudging is one way that we can help clear our energy fields or aura. When done, one will find that they feel better and more positive. Most people who know about smudging associate it with a sage wand. While sage is the more powerful of the plants which can be used for this purpose, sweetgrass and cedar can be just as effective.

FRANKINCENSE & MYRRH
The three Magis brought gold, Frankincense and Myrrh to
Nazareth to give to the child Jesus. Each of these gifts had practical as well as symbolic meaning. While gold brings comfort, Frankincense and Myrrh aromas have been used throughout time as aids for spiritual transcendence and peace, to manifest Heaven on Earth.
Frankincense and Myrrh are both resinous gums, a fluid that oozes from the bark of shrubby trees found in the Near East and the
Mediterranean. Oils are extracted from the gum, and the purest oils are extracted using steam distillation. The oils are experiencing a resurgence for those celebrating the New Age and the unity of the divine feminine and the divine masculine.
FRANKINCENSE
As a gift for Jesus, Frankincense was included because it symbolized his priesthood, his stature as a spiritual leader and teacher. Frankincense can provide profound spiritual benefits, especially the power to focus our spiritual consciousness and help us towards transcendent awareness. It is known to help us detach from that which does not have deeper spiritual meaning, such as over-attention to materialism, helping the personality better integrate with the Higher Self.
A beautiful oil for the holiday season, Frankincense helps us ground and become centered on the Earth, with tranquility and clarity about our deeper values. It also is the oil of choice for the nervous system, supporting the flow of Qi-energy, and giving us a hand when faced with tension, stress and exhaustion.
MYRRH
Myrrh was given as a gift to Jesus as a symbol that he was born to die. Myrrh's antibacterial attributes made it used often for embalming the dead as well as being burned at funerals to honour the dead. Myrrh is known to unite Heaven and Earth in a person, the spiritual with the physical. It is aromatherapy for manifestation of the spiritual in oneself. It was drunk by Ancient Hebrews to raise their consciousness and help the Higher Self manifest and transcend the material.
Myrrh works therapeutically on the nervous system, to calm the mind and instill tranquility. It is an earthy aroma to bring peace and inner stillness.
